Title: Door removal
Post by: 73bloodorange on August 08, 2017, 04:27:24 PM
I have a 73 standard beetle,  Trying to remove the doors, I have half of the 12 bolts out but the others have been mangled by the previous owner  Tried extract out, spray for a week with penetrating oil to no avail.  Does anyone know of a good hinge pin extractor on the market?  My research shows that there was one , albeit expensive which is no longer available,  help!

There's this one, but pricey -- https://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=1493477 (https://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=1493477)

I use a small flat nosed punch in an air hammer.
Works every time.

Similar to this but slightly smaller than the pin.
